Overview
At a university, assessment takes weeks of work: hundreds of scripts to grade, group projects that are hard to tell apart and evidence to gather for every accreditation cycle. AssessX brings these tasks together in one platform, built for higher education.
The platform generates exams from course materials, secures them with nine proctoring modes, grades essays, code and group projects with several AI models, then computes outcome attainment (CLOs and PLOs) to produce ABET and NCAAA reports. It integrates with the existing LMS (Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard) instead of replacing it.
What sets it apart: faculty stay in control at every step. AI suggests a grade, a comment and a confidence score; the instructor approves, adjusts or overrides. AssessX is deployed at Alfaisal University (Riyadh) and MUST University (Tunis).
The problem
100+ students, 15 to 30 minutes per essay, grades that vary from one TA to the next and feedback that arrives weeks late. In group projects, faculty can't tell who actually contributed. Institutions juggle 3 to 5 disconnected tools and prepare accreditation in spreadsheets, cycle after cycle, while at-risk students are found too late.
The AI solution
AssessX brings all of assessment into one platform: exam generation from the syllabus, AI grading of essays, code and group projects (handwritten scripts included, through OCR), proctoring up to zero-trust lockdown, CLO and PLO tracking with one-click ABET and NCAAA reports, a mobile app and LMS integration. At every step, AI suggests and the instructor decides.

How it works
Import the course
The syllabus or course material is uploaded as PDF or DOCX, scanned files included; AI extracts the course learning outcomes (CLOs).
Build the exam
Questions are generated, mapped to CLOs and Bloom levels, then checked by the AI exam review.
Run the exam
In the browser, with Safe Exam Browser or with Shield Desktop, depending on the security level chosen for the exam.
Grade
AI grades all submissions in one batch, with a justification and a confidence score; the instructor reviews and approves.
Report
Grades are released, visible on mobile, and the course report folder fills up for accreditation.
Document to exam in minutes
A syllabus or course material is enough, scanned documents included (OCR and Gemini Vision).
Upload
Course material is imported as PDF or DOCX.
Outcome extraction
AI identifies the course learning outcomes (CLOs).
Question generation
Questions across 12 types: MCQ, essay, code, math, matching…
Answers and rubrics
Model answers and grading rubrics are created automatically.
Faculty review
The instructor reviews and approves, supported by the AI exam review.
Features in detail
Multi-model AI grading
Claude, GPT-4o or Gemini, chosen per question or selected automatically. Every grade is justified criterion by criterion and comes with a confidence score.
Agentic code grading
File inventory, key file selection, per-criterion evaluation and report: a code review with line-level comments, in 20+ languages.
Group projects and GitHub
Rubric, per-member commit analysis and AI content detection: each individual grade reflects actual contribution.
Document to exam
From a PDF or DOCX, AI generates questions, model answers and rubrics; OCR and Gemini Vision read scanned documents.
Exam editor and review
Many question types (MCQ, essay, code, numerical, matching...). The AI review flags duplicates, ambiguity, difficulty imbalance and estimated time.
9 proctoring modes
From open-book to full lockdown: tab-switch detection, Safe Exam Browser, webcam, paste detection, time window, IP restriction.
Shield Desktop
Signed app for macOS, Windows and Linux: kiosk lockdown, AES-256 encrypted offline exam packages and automatic answer sync.
Course reports and accreditation
One-click AI course report, CLO and PLO attainment computed at every grading, gap analysis and an evidence folder ready for ABET and NCAAA.
Dashboard and grading queue
Sections, students, exams and pending grading in real time, with the progress of every batch grading, student by student.
Mobile app
Grades, CLO and PLO outcomes, announcements and an AI Copilot for students; gradebook, analytics and live exam monitoring for instructors.
Use cases
Capstones and engineering projects
At Alfaisal University, AssessX is used in the Software Engineering Capstone and Big Data Analytics: team code is analyzed on GitHub, with a grade per member.
Computer science and engineering departments
Institution-wide adoption
MUST University (Tunis) adopted the platform across the institution, through XEducation.
University leadership
Accreditation cycle
Every question is mapped to outcomes: CLO and PLO attainment is computed as grading goes, and the evidence folder is ready at the end of term.
Quality and accreditation teams (ABET, NCAAA)
High-stakes exams
Shield Desktop turns a laptop into a locked exam terminal, even offline thanks to encrypted packages.
Examination offices
Large classes
With 100+ students and 15 to 30 minutes per essay, batch grading processes the whole exam in minutes; the instructor reviews flagged grades.

Testimonial
ScaleX Innovation's AI auto-grading solution cut our manual grading workload by more than 70%. What used to take our teachers weeks now takes hours, with accuracy matching our best instructors.
Frequently asked questions
Does AI assign grades on its own?
No. AI suggests a grade, a justification and a confidence score; low-confidence grades are flagged and the instructor approves, adjusts or overrides every grade.
Which AI models are used?
The website presents three grading engines (Claude, GPT-4o, Gemini), chosen per question or selected automatically. The April 2026 product profile lists 20+ integrated models, including open-source and on-premise models.
Does AssessX replace our LMS?
No. It integrates with Moodle, Canvas or Blackboard (LTI 1.3), pushes grades back to the LMS gradebook and imports SIS data (Banner, PeopleSoft).
Can an exam run without a connection?
Yes, with Shield Desktop: offline exam packages are encrypted and answers sync automatically when the connection returns.
Where is our data hosted?
In the cloud (assessx.xeducation.ai) or on your servers with Docker Compose. The website states alignment with the Saudi PDPL and a charter under which the institution owns its data.
